RASHEEDAT BUKOLA. She studied English Language at Kwara State College of
Education, Ilorin. Her company name is RASHMED CAKES PALACE AND PASTERIES. She
is into Catering service, Cake baking and Pastries. She offers home service and
cooks any type of food.

ON HOW AND WHEN SHE STARTED, SHE SAID:
“I’ve been in this business for 10 years”
“Actually it begins during my secondary school days. I used
to visit my aunt who lives in Bida, Niger State. She’s also a Caterer. Every
time she’s cooking or baking pastries, I used to love it. I used to bake some
things while she was not at home and would show her when she comes back and she
used to be very happy. Since then, I developed passion for catering service”
ON WHAT LED HER TO THIS AREA OF BUSINESS AND WHAT MOTIVATED
HER TO START? SHE SAID:
“Actually, firstly, I love to cook. I enjoy making any food,
be it hausa, Yoruba or Ibo food. Even Italian dish, European dish, and any
food”
“I used to like what my Aunt was doing so I started doing
them and after doing them I saw that okay, I have passion for this thing and I
should start it on my own and maybe I could be more than her. And today I’m actually more than her because
she only cooks for seminars, people and so on while I cook, bake cakes, pastries
and so on”
“I can say this is a business I love to do. That’s what
motivated me”.
ON HER COMPANY NAME AND THE SECRET BEHIND THE NAME, SHE
SAID:
My company name is Rashmed cakes palace and Pasteries.
Actually it’s the combination of my name and my husband’s
name
ON HOW MUCH SHE STARTED WITH, SHE SAID:
Actually, I didn’t start with a specific amount. But, hmmmm
let me say, maybe N5, 000. Because what happened was that when people give me
work to do, I just collect the money, do it, then the remaining money left, I
used it to buy materials. So I started
from there.
DOES SHE HAVE A SHOP? SHE SAID:
“Currently, my shop is still under construction. So I work
from home now and you can absolutely do this business by working from home”
HOW HAS HER BUSINESS BEEN DOING? SHE REPLIED:
“Actually it’s doing great. People are ordering but I still
hope for more because we need connections, and for people to support what we
are doing”
“By the special grace of God I hope I can see someone to
promote me, to make me grow higher”
ON HER ADVICE FOR ENTREPRENEURS AND START UPS, SHE SAID:
“In life, what you have to do is to look for what is best in
you. Try to figure out what you can do best, then that will lead you to what
you will be doing”
“Anything you will be doing, you have to have passion for
it. If there is no passion and you are just doing something because you just
want to have money. I don’t think it’s okay”
“Then learn, learn. Because
me, I learn from different persons, not one, not two, not three and I’m still
learning. I’ve not stopped.
“I will advice upcoming entrepreneurs to start with even if
it’s a little amount, just start. Just be good at what you do”
WE ASKED HER HOW SHE HAS BEEN MARKETING HER PRODUCT AND
SERVICE. SHE SAID:
“Actually, I post pictures on facebook. When I meet some
friends, I tell them to tell friends, families, neighbours, so from there I
hope I would get what I want”
“ Anytime I call one of my sisters who uses MTN, I used to
see an advert message to patronize her so I asked her to teach me and I
subscribe for it too”
ON COIN CONSULTS AND THE COINKWARA PROGRAMME SHE SAID:
“I am one of the first people who joined the programme. I
joined when it did not have a website. Presently I am on Coinkwara’s website”
“It’s a very, very good programme. I see it as a
developmental organisation that is working on building people to be part of
modern Kwara. So I joined to make history and be part of an organisation that
brought Kwara to the 21st century. I’m happy to be among.
